This award was given to a non profit organization that provides tech support for health projects. The GNU and its African habitat is the logo of the The GNU Project, a free software, mass collaboration project founded by Richard Stallman.
Free Software Foundation and GNU Project present an award each year to a Tech organization for their contributions to social benefit. Although these folks are involved in high-tech, they commission low tech art, including papercutting and ceramics, as their gifts.
